Flower Delivery

Flower delivery is a key service given by florists. Customers frequently look into their selection of flower arrangements in-store or online. Customers' purchases are then delivered to a recipient's home or office address. Committed to giving customer satisfaction, florists take the time to talk about their needs. They give customers only the most immaculate flowers and arrangements. This means ensuring that they last for more than a couple days. And any flower designer knows that striving to always keep flowers fresh is and should be their # 1 priority.

Proper Storage In-Store and Before Delivery

One of the most effective methods to have lasting flowers is to keep them cool. It's also wise to store them out of direct daylight. To make that happen, most, if not all, florists keep at least one fridge cooler in their store. This keeps their supply of flowers cool and fresh. Many others even buy specific storage units to keep their floral products at a fresh 36-46 ° F. Florists also leave wrapped up arrangements in a cooler prior to delivery or pick-up. This holds the flowers in great health until they make it to the customer or recipient. A ton of bigger shops also buy cooling vans or temperature control tools. With temps at 36-46 ° F, floral orders stay fresh even with long-distance travels. Several flower shops also provide same-day delivery in their local area and neighboring towns. So, clients can get stunning arrangements to their loved ones in as promptly as a couple hours!

Development of Flower Delivery

Along with running their store, florists take orders from customers. They also ask customers about requests they have for massive events and very special holidays. Prior to the internet, much of the flower shop's customers were walk-ins and telephone calls. These customers normally needed a single bouquet or arrangement delivered that same day. Today, clients occasionally place big orders or personalized floral arrangements. These are usually specific to functions like:

  • a wedding
  • a lavish party
  • holiday bash
  • a commemoration of life.
After getting their orders, florists produce the designs according to the customer's needs. These purchase orders are then either prepped for pick-up or sent out for delivery.

Who Does the Flower Delivery?

Florists are in charge of making and putting together floral arrangements for their clients. Flower delivery drivers then pick up floral orders at flower stores and deliver them. Flower delivery roles are typically entry-level professions, so no background is needed. But at a minimum, they need to hold a valid driver's license and a flawless driving record. Most floral shops use box trucks to deliver their goods to customers. Drivers should know how to drive and maintain these trucks. The general run-through of a floral delivery drivers' tasks are:

  • Loading flower arrangements in the delivery vehicle
  • Checking for any damages informing the florist about any issues
  • Bringing floral pieces to clients' or their recipients' offices or homes
  • Sometimes, requesting the recipient's signature as proof of delivery

Aside from that, drivers also help out in the store or storehouse. These include unpacking deliveries of flower supplies. They might also help the staff organize floral products in the stockroom.
